OHIO VALLEY
GROUP RECEIVES TOP LANDSCAPE AWARD
The Ohio
Valley Group was awarded the prestigious Grand Environmental Improvement
Award from the Professional Landcare Network [PLANET] in recognition of
its work on its Blues Garden for the Cleveland Botanical Garden’s 2007
Rhythm and Hues Flower Show. This is Ohio Valley’s second PLANET award.
This award highlights Ohio Valley’s commitment to excellence in
landscaping.
Ohio
Valley’s award winning design for its Blues Garden was designed by Ohio
Valley’s landscape architect, Terry Ries. Terry was inspired to create
this garden by the B.B. King song “The Thrill is Gone”. This decidedly
thrilling garden uses blue plantings, blue stone and a water feature with
musical notes and lyrics from the song to create a private space that
hints at the private nature of human relationships. Like the blues
itself, this garden’s elements combine to convey the complexity and
ultimate triumph of the human spirit.
Ohio
Valley’s Blue’s garden was one of hundreds of entries into the national
judging competition. The awards program recognizes professionals in the
landscape industry who execute superior projects and consistently use
quality materials and workmanship.
“Receiving a
national award like this for the second year in a row is extremely
gratifying” said Andy Dangelo, president of Ohio Valley. “While this
award was given for just one of our projects, we consider this as
recognition of the highly creative and professional work we do every
day”.
In addition
to the Grand Award for the Cleveland Botanical Garden Blue’s Garden, Ohio
Valley was also awarded a Safety Recognition Award by PLANET in
recognition of its stellar safety record.
