PLANET’s 2013 National Landscape Awards of Excellence Program

presslogoOctober 2013: The Ohio Valley Group, Inc. is proud to announce it has been awarded both the Grand Award and Judges Award for its Edward Scissorhands feature garden at the Great Big Home and Garden Show in the 2013 National Landscape Awards of Excellence Program sponsored by the Professional Landcare Network [PLANET].

The Edward Scissorhands garden paid homage to the movie classic Edward Scissorhands in keeping with the movie theme requirement. The focal point of the garden was the large topiary hand in the center. The topiary featured an arch of water arching well over the gravel path and the heads of the visitors to the garden, ending in an aged Kentucky whiskey barrel. The garden contained numerous large topiaries including a deer, giraffe and dancing bear. The metaphorically dark sense of the garden was achieved through the extensive use of evergreens and a row of large arborvitae created a sense of mystery about the garden. The gravel path through the garden accented the dark plant material.
